Very large hard drive difference between Finder and About This Mac

I have a mid-2010 13" Macbook Pro. Finder says I have just over 105 gigs of hard drive space left, but About This Mac (and disk utility) say I have just over 66 gigs left. I understand that if you have Time Machine running (which I do), the space that Finder says you have available will be greater due to local snapshots (if I am understanding this correctly). However, almost 40 gigs seems like a HUGE difference to me. What is the actual space I have available? The space showing in About This Mac? Is there any way to get them to match, or is this just a side effect of using Time Machine?
