Q: mavericks update keychain access not accepting passwords

Every since I updated to mavericks I am gettting these pop ups that are asking for me to enter my keychain access password for all different access. Every time I enter my password it is rejected. I have tried to reset my default password, did not work. Tried keychain first aid did not work. In addition when I look for these keychain passwords for the websites they are not listed in my password keychain I cannot find them to deal with them indiviually. I have lost the ability to use safari, email, even system preferences. everytime I try to use them they freeze up and I am forced to use force quite. Frustrating to say the least. Can anyone point me in the right direction to assist me.

Thanks

These are the different pop up's:

1. talagent wants to use the "local items"keychain

2. com.apple.icloudhelper.xpc wants to use the "local items" keychain

3. clendarAgent wants to use the "local items" keychain

4.identityservicesd wants to use the "local items" keychain

5..accountsd wants to use the "local items" keychain

6.MAckeeper helper wants to use the "local items" keychain

7. AdressbooksourcesSync wants to use the "local items" keychain

    Hello guys

I had same problem here, installed maverick last night then MacBook went all touchy with keychain, Mail , Safari not loading pages , impossible to log in in iCloud neither in settings or thru safari, no iMessages , etc. I tried almost all the tips on this post and nothing. Today I was on chat with a apple genius and after almost 2 hours of this and that , he decided to reinstall the software. So, this is what I did ( genius instructions )

    Shut down Mac

Start back up the mac. Hold on command and R keys

    Choose your language. English default

    Install osx

Will give you options , reinstall the software or use time machine, which I was tempted to do and go back to Mountain, but I gave a try and reinstall Mavericks. About hour and half software was installed and restart MacBook.

    Since then all was ok

    No keychain messages

No mail password confirmation every 10 seconds

    No expired certificates in safari

    Pages loading normally

I lost all the passwords , but  I'm trying to retrieve from my other MacBook.

If lucky  will let you know.

Thank you for all the post  and help by the way.

    Hope this help :)

So it's a fresh install? You loose all your data photos etc? What's the best way to reinstall it all. I can't get time machine to work properly so that's an issue but don't want to loose all my photos etc

I didnt loose any data so far, Iphoto ok, Itunes ok, and i just retieve all my passwords as i had hem with icloud keychain sync with my other macbook and ipad ( phew!)

So this was the instruction genius gave me

    Shut down Mac

Start up the mac. Hold on command and R keys

    Choose your language.

    Install osx

    computer will do the rest.

It works for me, hope it helps...

    Here - Shellcode's reply - bingo - all sorted!

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5475160?start=0&tstart=0

    1. Open terminal
    2. cd ~/Library/Keychains
    3. ls
      1. When you 'ls' here you will see a folder that contains a bunch of random number liks so:
      2. 94ED610F-DD96-4ECF-A2BC-7D2F8651A464  (this number is unique on each system)
    4. rm -rf 94ED610F-DD96-4ECF-A2BC-7D2F8651A464
    5. Reboot
    6. <when you log back in everything should be back to normal>

This worked for me. But if I clicked on the password box 1st I couldn't get into any other application.

This fixed it. You may have to right click on your /Users/<name> folder to make "Library" folder visible.

This is how I solved the keychain problem...I went into an apple store and asked how do I defeat this and after a few minutes the guy said "I will have to charge you if I give you more information" so I grabbed him by the coller slapped him twice and dared him to say that again...by the time I was done he was willing to blow me....**** apple and their keychain...
