Wheniphoneconnected to iTunes (MacBook),
This will allow iOSupdate iDevice. Select Sync Musci, Films, etc. Once iOS updated.
Siri directed me to this web site: https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-change-sync-options-for-the-iphone. It is an excellent tutorial on "How to Change Sync Options for the iPhone." However, I could not find the answer I needed to free up space. I went to my iPhone and deleted a few books, providing the necessary space, allowing me to update the IOS.
OK So I have this 'change media sync options' problem every time I attempt to update my iPhone while connected to iTunes on my laptop. This is how I have worked around it. While still connected to my laptop, I simply go and install the update through my phone, -general, updates and that has worked for me every time in fact I am updating it right now~ hope this helps 🙂
I also followed Sally's solution - go to your iPhone sttings, select General, and click on Software Update, then install updates. It works every time. But I have no idea why the problem persists when trying to update via iTunes.
what kind of media do you want to change??
when your phone is plugged in to itunes, click on the device you're talking about,
and at the top of that summary page there is proabbly 5 or 6 tabs for your phone. one of the tabs will say music. you can choose what settings you'd like.
if you're looking for something where you just drag whatever media you want from your library to your phone, you should go back to the main page of your device (the summary tab at the top of that page) and scroll all the way to the bottom and check the box that says manually manage music.
I believe I have the same issue. iTunes requests that you change your "media sync options" to apply the latest software update for iPhones.
I am getting this message saying I need 530MB of free space when I have 2GB free on my phone.
Does anyone have the answer?
Same issue and message here. I have NOTHING synced: Music, books, movies... nothing. I ended up deleting a couple of apps and it worked. Perhaps the message should just read to open up more storage space.
I have the same issue, and none of the replies on this thread were helpful. I deleted some apps, and I already have my synced music pared down to the minimum. The screen says that a huge amount of the phone is used by "documents and data" but I have no idea how to pare THAT down - I wish I could. The upgrade requires 610 MB of free space, and the phone says that I have 1.96 GB available, so... what to do???
So, I solved it - this way:
First I did a complete backup in iTunes.
Then, I completely erased the phone (on the phone, go to Settings/General/Reset/Erase all content and settings). This was a bit scary to do, but I figured my backup was available if things went wrong.
Then in iTunes, I "restored" the phone from the backup.
During the restoration, iTunes asked me if I wanted to update stuff - carrier settings and the latest iPhone software - and I agreed.
Lo and behold there was now enough space and the whole thing updated. My phone is working fine, and there is a little more free space than I had going into this process.
Yes that is the problem I am having. There is no instruction on how to do it.
