Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

Try instead launching WinRAR. In WinRAR, browse to the the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe). Select it and just click "Extract to ..."
Dear b noir,
Thanks your for posting this. I had this problem today, and spend almost the whole day trying to solve it. Your post is what worked for me.
Best regards from Paris.
Dear b noir:
You are brilliant! I had the same problem as StevoParis and following your solution did the trick, lickety-split. I was so happy that I joined the Apple Support Community just so I could reply to your posts and thank you for helping so many people.
P.S. I visited New Zealand for the first time this past summer (your winter). I didn't make it to the South Island, but had a great time in Auckland, especially on Tiri Tiri Matangi, the open sanctuary just north of the city. Kiwis are the best!
🙂 You're welcome! Glad to have been of some assistance.
Here's the workaround I found.
Go here: (Deleted by Apple Moderators)
Okay, they deleted it. Google 'old apps iTunes 9.' Should be easy enough to find. The website will have old apps in the name itself.
Download old version. Go to your start button and find 'Apple Software Update.'
Select. Run. Voila! All fixed!
Dear b noir:
I followed the steps you gave, but in the folder, it does not have the AppleApplicationSupport.msi, please help with it, thank you.
I used the winrar method to fix my problem, but had to install all the apps one at a time from winrar that I deleted before reinstalling (Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour, Apple Application Support). But it worked great, thanks! 🙂
I have downloaded and installed WinRar. When I right-click on the iTunes64Setup.exe dowload, the only options i have are "open", "always open files of this type" and "show in folder". So I select "show in folder", thinking this would be the best choice. It automatically takes me to my download folder on the C drive. I try to select WinRar from this list, thinking that is what I should try. It tries to reinstall WinRar. I feel like I am going in circles and would just like someone to walk me through this on a phone! I try to pull up customer support, but they want a serial number. How can I get a serial number when I can't install iTunes!
I read one one help forum about installing QuickTime to help with the Apple Application Support - has anyone tried this? Does it work?
Thanks!
