I wrote some Apple script and exported to app. and I want user to download it for a web site, however, the app is a directory, if i put a http link to the app user will see a folder and many files. is there a way to download app folder as a single file rather than compress it?

The usual way is to put the application in a disk imge or zip it up.
Just put it in a dmg with Disk Utility->File->New Disk Image From Folder
Any reason you don't want to do it this way?
put it in zip is the last way I choose.
I thought safari would recongnize some specail link, like app://xxxxx or afp://xxxxxx and download a app package. if don't I will use compact.
