Mavericks making my computer run out of memory

Ever since i updated to mavericks my computer has become slower than when i was on mountain lion... For instance i just restarted my iMac this morning and just about 30 min ago i got down to 0MB free ram, User uploaded file as you can see here...

And this has happened about 5 times since ive had mavericks and the only way to fix it is by restarting. Other things like sleep and wake takes forever and when im gaming it makes me get major lag spikes... Im on a 21" mid 2011 iMac with 8GB ram.

Mavericks manages RAM far differently than previous versions of OS X. Your memory monitoring utility likely is not accounting for this and needs to be updated. Note that it shows only ~2GB of used or active RAM, so it ought to do some subtraction of sorts from the total usable RAM. Additionally, a reading of exactly 0GB is generally suspect, especially if you cannot change it by quitting all applications or otherwise manually adjusting the memory load on the system.

Try opening Apple's Activity Monitor utility and choosing the Memory section, to see what the memory usage statistics are there, and compare this to your third-party monitor. My guess is that Activity Monitor will show you an abundant amount of memory available.

I run seven different VMs, though never more than one at a time, but Win 7 and Win 8 have a tendency to "suck up" a lot of RAM when installing software, which I do a lot of for testing.
I've had times where I was down to less than 100mb available out of 16Gb.
I downloaded "Memory Clean" from the App Store, and I use it to free up the inactive RAM, which is where most of it ends up when a VM is updating or installing. It resides in the menu bar and opens with a click.

It takes about a minute to free up what I need and things go right back to "fast".
