How do I remove adf.ly from Chrome?

I seem to have this annoying Malware embedded into my Chrome browser on OS X that loads an ad hosted by adf.ly, some URL shortener, before I can load a webpage. I never installed this and can't work out how to remove it.

It's NOT malware. Many sites, especially thumbnail galleries and blogsites that link to image hosts, use adf.ly (among others, like LinkBucks) as a "sponsor". They operate on a "per click" basis to fund the original site. There are adblockers that will "skip" the sponsor, but most of them have already worked to disable the blockers, so you have to wait 8 seconds for the requested content to appear, even with them installed. AdBlock Plus will disable the "Ad content", but not the script that runs the timer.
