Jan 15, 2014 3:30 AM in response to ncon64by Supreem,I'd say that my rMBP sleeps fine every time on short sleeps. This problem is something to do with when the laptop is meant to go into a deep sleep i.e. hibernate, it fails, crashes and starts burning up the batter power like crazy mofo, leading to a warm, energy drained and crashed out rMBP come la mañana.

Jan 15, 2014 3:49 AM in response to Supreemby McPerlt,This is different from the problem I have.
My MBP goes to sleep fine, but simply does not wake when opening the lid again. No problems with heat, drained battery or anything like that. Simply fails to wake on opening the lid. Black screen and having to do a hard shut down and restart.

Jan 15, 2014 8:27 AM in response to McPerltby ncon64,The problem with trying to assess the amount of Mac users with this same issues is, because it doesn't actually effect the everyday use of the the product most people may not be too bothered about having to hard shut down and restart and therefore Apple aren't really getting the full picture, which makes them sense it's pretty much a small percentage with the issue. It probably needs some kind of call on numbers with shut down/wake up issues to try and trigger a response. hopefully, that way we'd be able to have proper numbers to go by rather than fragmented ones. There are other discussions going on with similar issues but seperated by a different headed call message. Apple will only give full attention if the numbers are great. Any suggestions?

Jan 15, 2014 8:30 AM in response to ncon64by Supreem,Yep my suggestion is less activity on here and more activity calling apple or visiting your nearest apple store as I will be doing as soon as I get back to the UK.

Jan 16, 2014 2:20 AM in response to ncon64by Supreem,Yep it's the exact same sleep failure code as mine.
However, nobody on here is going to help you pal, no one on here is going to come up with a fix the problem we have. You will continue to have this problem as long as you don't contact apple directly and have them look at your laptop, which is something that if I were you I'd do sooner rather than later as the resale value of a malfunctioning MBP is much less than one that isn't.

Jan 20, 2014 8:31 AM in response to Supreemby ncon64,"Today, a satelite wakes up after months of deep sleeping"...Maybe a lesson for Apple to learn from??. Hi Guys,
I've done a little experiment: After using my MBPR, I put it away in a draw/bag and noticed that most times it has the start up issue. Now, it could be just i've put it at an angel and maybe disturbed a loose chip or, it's a cooling issue. As Supreem has suggested, it's best to bring it back - which I'm about to. However, just thought i'd throw that in.

Jan 21, 2014 10:28 AM in response to RevCamlinby FrFromMac,Hi all,
very same problem here, but it only happen when I've my external monitors connected, It will not wake from sleep (forcing me to hard reboot) or spontaneously reboot itself. Preventing it from going to sleep obviously "solve" the problem (playing mp3s...streaming from the web...)
here's my setup:
MacBookPro Retina (OS X 10.9.1 - late 2013)
Wacom Cintiq 13HD (linked directly to MacBookPro trough HDMI and USB) (Wacom Driver 6.3.7-3)
Dell 27"inch (U2713HM) (linked directly to MacBookPro trough DisplayPort)
Hope this will be addressed soon.
thanks everybody for sharing.

Jan 21, 2014 10:56 AM in response to RevCamlinby Markus278,I have the same problem described here. I have no USB devices connected and only a few 3rd party apps running.
Log-In Items are:
MenuWeather, KeyCue, BetterTouch
LaunchDeamons: Adobe Updater
I also hope this annoyance will be addressed soon!

Jan 23, 2014 3:37 AM in response to RevCamlinby Lukelukey,Same problem here. I have a Macbook Pro late 2013 running OSX 10.9.1. Most mornings my machine does not wake from sleep. I also have to hold down the power button twice to get it to reboot. I then get a message saying the machine shut down unexpectedly. Also sometimes certain Apps that were open have crashed and show a report. It does seem to be with long sleeps, so maybe when it tries to hibernate.
I purchased it in December 2013 and after spending £1200, to face such a fundamental problem is infuriating. it's really not good enough. Often any data that isn't saved is lost. Please fix it!

Jan 23, 2014 6:38 AM in response to Supreemby bamajive,I have the same problem. I have had my 2013 - 13" Macbook Pro Retina two weeks and this has happened twice.
I put it to sleep with the lid open in the evening on my desk, then in the morning I placed it into my case, by the time I arrived at the office it felt like my bag was on fire and the battery was drained by 40-60 %.
-
Jan 23, 2014 6:42 AM in response to bamajiveby Supreem,Yep you have the exact same issue, it's stupid as now I have to remind myself to shutdown my rMBP before going to bed, just so that I don't cause some possibility of fire in the middle of the night, not exactly what I had in mind when I dropped £2,000 on this thing.
