Belkin bluetooth keypad

Has anyone managed to get their MacBook Pro to pair with Belkins F8T067 bluetooth keypad with Maverick 10.9 ?

I just bought one today... from an Apple Store.... took it home and spent a very frustrating hour trying to set it up, and failed miserably.

I successfully got the MacBook Pro to pair with the keypad, but it couldn't identify it correctly and the OS only offered 3 different standard keyboard options, none of which were appropriate. In fact the "idiot mode" setup trying identify the keyboard kept insisting that I only needed to press the key to the left of the shift key to identify it.....which of course doesn't exist as its a KEYPAD dummy !

I can't believe that apple has completely overlooked that their flagship new OS doesn't seem to support bluetooth keypads that they sell in all their Apple Stores.

And I can't believe also that Belkin make absolutely no mention of this problem and a solution on their website and their setup info on their website is obviously dated.

Come on people.... this kind of screw-up is what we like to poke fun at our competition for !!

Anyone got any suggested solutions for me ?

I'm having this problem too, bought the YourType Keypad from the Apple Store at Cribbs Causeway, Bristol, on Monday. It is showing as connected to my iMac but does not work, no response from the keys at all. What I want to know is, how can I press the key to the right of the shift key when there isn't a shift key on the keypad? I've trawled through the internet looking for advice including the Belkin website, which I found utterly useless. I'm on OS Mavericks, which I think needs a good sorting out by Apple.

Dear Everyone:

When I bought my iMac last January, the KeyPad from Apple worked great. This is what you want:

LMP Bluetooth Keypad Model WKP-1314

When I bought another new iMac this past Oct-Nov, the choice in the Apple store had switched to this Belkin one. I had the SAME issue with it. It did pair and then would not work.

I searched online for the above LMP model and found it at Newegg.com (currently it is $41.99 with free shipping)

Works like a charm. The Belkin one does not work.

HOPE THIS HELPS EVERYONE!

Happy New Year!

Hi BertingAP. Just to clarify: I am not on Mavericks. I'm on Mountain Lion on both computers and the Belkin keypad has the issue. The LMP works great. I have just ordered another for yet another new Mac running Mavericks and will know tomorrow if there's any issue setting that one up with that new OS

Happy New Year...

Yes, but again to clarify. The problem is with Belkin. There is no Apple keypad. They are both 3rd party Keypads. The LMP model I posted works great and is what used to be offered in the Apple Store. I do not know why Apple started selling the Belkin in its store instead of the LMP that they were selling a few months ago when I first bought it there.

Honestly I don't know why Apple just doesn't make the wireless keyboard come with a keypad to start with and there wouldn't be an issue (LOL!)

I almost gave up for this keypad. I saw your reply just now, and took out my keypad from the box. I reset the SMC few hours ago because of some other problem. I just connected the keypad with my Macbook again, and there's no any respond when I type any key. Then, as you mentioned, I changed battery......and I was astonished....it works now!!!!

Opps. I guess they didn't get the memo in Boise to take this off the shelves. I can't believe this is happening. Spent an hour trying to get a stupid keypad to work! I don't know if Belkin even knows they sell the product. I couldn't find it on their support page, even though I could find the useless instruction manual again. I'm getting the numbers to work, but none of the other keys.

For sharing with those whose Belkin YourType Wireless KeyPad works sporadically, it worth trying to replace the battery

I used Apple Rechargeable battery to setup the KeyPad out of the box and it work fined for a few days. Then comes the bluetooth connection issue. I replace the battery with the alkaine ones that came in the box and it's working again.

Since the KeyPad is lacking battery indication in both OS and the KeyPad itself, I believe it's draining battery faster than other bluetooth numpads or it's sensitive to the battery level. Will continue to monitor if the alkaine battery helps.

I put the batteries in the keypad that came with it, but I will change out the batteries tomorrow and see if that works. I don't think that explains the setup issues where it asks you to press the key to left or right (i forget which) to the shift key. My number keys (0-9) work fine, but none of the other keys do. The additional F keys at the top turn up and down brightlenss like F5 &F6 should. Thanks for your insight though. I have been pestering Belkin all weekend to hopefully get them to do something, but it's not looking good.

Believe me, I put brand new fully charged batteries in the Belkin and while you could get it to pair initially, it would stop working and then skip all over the place doing various things after a while. After 3-4 tries I tossed it and bought the LMP I referenced above, as I already had one and knew it worked well. I've since recommended this same LMP to others and they have all had zero issues and had it work great right out of the box.

Hope this helps.
