Ends of curved line won't extend in Keynote

I inserted a curved line into a slide, and tried to extend the end points to desired points, but the shape is unresponsive. When I place the cursor on the end point, the edit selection indicator (the tiny vertical line with two left & right arrow heads pointing away) does pop up, but I can not move the curve end point no matter which button or trackpad feature I hold down simultaneously. Of interest the middle of the curve, green point, which controls the curviture of the line does respond. The entire shape shifts to the side and distorts its curviture if any end point or midpoint is attempted to drag into a new location. Also when one end point is attempted (to no avil) and the other, the whole curved line disappears altogether (hidden in the background behind text boxes), and the coordinate window for the last point attempted greys out. When the curve is just inserted fresh, the coordinate windows on both start and end points are accessible and end points can be moved by adjusting the x & y coordinate up and down arrows. Any ideas?

Ok,, the curved line seems to be a special shape that's used for connecting one box to another, like in org charts or diagrams like that. For the regular line and the arrow'd line, you can Format -> Shape -> Make Editable and then add points and additional curves to those. For the Curve Connector shape, you can only toggle it between being curved or edged.

So, if you want to create a curved line that you don't have to worry about snapping to anything, use the straight line (with no arrow) then make editable. OR use Draw with Pen, but only click once to draw, a second time to set the second point, then hit Esc.

I tried to edit the above discussion but ran out of time editing. So here is an update.

The issue may relate to the inserted curved lines being coupled to the existing layers or text boxes: I found some of the missing curved lines in the background, and there also an empty text box that I deleted. This released one end of some of the curved lines, and I was able to drag those ends into new posiitons. But the other ends points of the same curved lines remained unresponsive! So I Selected All items to make sure all are unlocked and ungrouped but they were already so. Any ideas?

Thanks Kyn.

I started by clicking the "Shape" icon on top of the Keynote toolbar. This is one of the six icons in the center of the toolbar, right below the filename.

When the "Shape" icon is clicked, a window of shapes opens and the top row includes a curve, straight line, and an arrow. Only the curve seems to have this issue. When the curved line is selected, and re-clicked on the slide, a curve is dropped on the slide. Once I tried to adjust the size and placement of the shape, the "end" point locks onto the textbox behind the shape which contains a pasted Preview screen scan (map). Although the "Start" point of the curve seems to be free to adjust, the "End" point remains fixed. Note that the textbox and shape I referenced are "Unlocked" and "Ungrouped." I am puzzled as to why the "End" point of the curve line, locks to the center of the textbox below.

When I attempt the same process, without having a textbox in the background, the curved line drops fine on the slide and is completely editable and managable.
