Jan 9, 2014 3:18 AM in response to imshookby wheeliebin,@imshook - are these books you have purchased from the iBooks store? If so the easiest thing to do is log onto the store from your mac with the same id and download them.
If they are weren't purchased from Apple, do you have them synced on an older computer - again the easiest way to get them on the new Mac is to copy them from the old one.
Otherwise you may need to use a third party program to achieve it.

Jan 20, 2014 7:14 AM in response to kuesby charlie_maverick,Thank you! The only solution that worked! And also thanks for explainning about the unlogical menu option "Move from iTunes" -> "I know it sounds the opposite but this will sync with iTunes so that your ibooks show up in iTunes for syncing."
I would never have clicked there if you hadn't explained it here!
Thanks again

Feb 7, 2014 4:52 AM in response to kuesby sunfly ,When I tried (iBooks > file > move books from my itunes) it this came up: "iTunes doesn't have any books to move to iBooks". I am searching for a way to show the books (purchased and free ones) I have from iBooks on my mac in iTunes. Is there a way?

Feb 15, 2014 10:27 PM in response to sunflyby diabolical_mdog,In my case, we'd never had / used an ebook before, so that may have prevented something from working (the "move books from iTunes" thing didn't do anything, and there was never a "books" to click on within iTunes).
What did work was a suggestion from cult of mac to email the epub to yourself, then click download on the iPhone, then open it in iBooks on the iPhone. Ugly!

Mar 30, 2014 11:27 AM in response to imshookby Mr_Bagger,For those who still want to know...........
After you move all your books to the new IBooks app on the computer, and it deletes the normal IBook app on the left hand side of the itunes window, if you look on top of the itunes window after, you will see the word Books, click on that and there you will see all your books in the open window.
Click sync selected books and then select what you need to sync and everything will be fine after!, they will all be on your ipad or phone.
Look at the screen capture below.........

Mar 31, 2014 3:19 PM in response to sunflyby drans208,I'm having the same problem as sunfly!
Unfortunately, the comments from Mr_Bagger do not help me because the word "Books" no longer appears in my iTunes (in the sidebar or above it).
Is emailing epubs to myself the only way to load onto my iPad ebooks that are not purchased through Apple?

Mar 31, 2014 3:59 PM in response to drans208by drans208,Problem solved!
All I had to do was the following:
1. Open epub in my Mac's iBooks by dragging the epub file into iBooks or going to File > Add to Library
2. In my iPad Settings, under iBooks, make sure that "Sync Bookmarks" and "Sync Collections" are turned on.
3. Wait a few minutes, and any book that's on my Mac in iBooks magically appears on my iPad!

Mar 31, 2014 11:20 PM in response to drans208by sjordi,TO see the Books, you need to actually connect your iPhone or iPad. Then click on it in iTunes, and then the Books button is a section of your device, it's not an iTunes part by itself.
If you click on your iPad in iTunes, do you have the Books section? You should have
Summary Info Apps Tones Music Movies TV Shows Podcasts BOOKS Photos

Mar 31, 2014 11:22 PM in response to drans208by sjordi,Not solved for me.
What if you don't want to have the epub in your Mac iBooks?
Why is that Apple always "improve" features by removing them without letting the user chose the method. Being an option rather than being imposed?I need Drag&Drop from ePub from my desktop to my iPad, period! Not the hassle of adding the book to libraries, then syncing them, etc...

Apr 1, 2014 11:33 AM in response to drans208by drans208,Apparently, problem NOT solved.
The steps I listed above worked for the first book I added to iBooks on my Mac... but, I just added another book to iBooks on my Mac, and it's not showing up on my iPad!
I have the iBook on my Mac settings set to sync bookmarks, etc.
I also have the iBook on my iPad settings set to sync bookmarks and collections.
Any suggestions for what I can do to get books from my Mac to my iPad would be appreciated!
P.S. These books were NOT purchased from the iBooks store.

You must connect your iPad to your computer via USB/Thunderbolt and sync. Your ebooks do not magically appear on your iPad when you put them in collections in iBooks.

Apr 2, 2014 7:18 AM in response to Michael Allbrittonby drans208,Thank you. Connecting the cable and syncing worked.
When my earlier post referred to the book "magically appearing," I was figuring that the books were syncing via the cloud, like so many other items do.
