Recenetly, HD Movies bought through iTunes have been skipping frames when played on my Apple TV Gen 3,2 with iOS 6.0 installed. I have yet to update to 6.0.1 because I have heard that upgrading could mess up my Apple TV even more. Any suggestions or solutions to this problem would be greatly appriciated.

I have the same problem. It all happend right after the latest AppleTV software update. No skipping before, and if I pause I can see on the timeline that the whole movie is already buffered, so it has nothing to do with network performance.
come on! 2 month of waiting and still no solution?
i cound't say if it was a problem before update - but i have 50Mbit LAN connection to router - so definitely no internet issue! It seem more that Apple TV is just overloaded to play 1080 HD quality movies!
