Mavericks - error code -8084 when copying files to desktop from remote servers

User uploaded file

This is the error message displayed any time I copy a file from remote servers to any location on my desktop. It started happening when I upgraded to Mavericks. I have run Disk Doctor, restarted, cleared caches and so on... nothing works. Help! I work remotely and access hundred of files each day... I need to ge tthis working again. Any ideas anyone? It doesn't matter what the file is... or which server it's on or the location. I can't copy to my desktop at all now.

This is what I'm using (late 2012 model 27" iMac)

I've got the EXACTLY same problem !

I only can add that when I transfer thoses files to a FTP, the problem is also "transfered". So, I've seen that weird special char were added to the end of the files.

I've tried it on two mac mini and my macbook pro, I still have the problem. They're all on 10.9 and I've reinstalled one of the mac mini from zéro... But still have the problem.

I'll go back to OS X 10.8 'till the problem is solved !

Quite a few of us in the office are getting this same error, all when trying to copy files from servers over to mid 2011 iMacs. File size varies from as litle as 4.5MB to 8GB so far, all with the same error code.

Am currently attempting the erase free space trick, but from what I've been reading on various forums I assume we'll have to wait for a fix from Apple in an update - hopefully soon!

I am having the same problem but ONLY on a new mac mini and only when copying to my XServer. i have several other identical minis running 10.8 and not having a problem. it only seems to be happening on one.

i am getting (Error code -36) when i try to copy.

the mini can see and copy files to all other macs some running mavericks 10.9.2. so it is only a problem with particualr shares on the XServe.

connecting as cifs: works but for my average users, this will probably be a probem.

i am going to reformat and install 10.8 on the mini and wait for the server issues to be resolved.
