I switch between Safari and Chrome often because the Safari PDF Viewer never shows PDF's in the browser without having to download it.
I've followed steps provided here:

I've also reset the Safari preferences in Library/Preferences/
Any thoughts?
MacBook Pro, iOS 7.0.3
Try this ...
Open a Finder window then from the menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Click Go.
If you see the: AdobePDFViewer plugin in the Internet Plug-Ins folder, move it to the trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari then try opening a PDF file.

Ive just had the same problem, and it was solved by this also.
I also had to delete AdobeAAMDetect.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin before PDF files started working again in Safari.
My experience was the same as that of toddbu. Finally worked after removing the other Adobe plugins.
This did it, thank a bunch...
Note that you will need to remove that from the plug-ins folder in the Macintosh HD > Library, not the Library directory for your User.

Hi, I am experiencing the same problem. It takes ages for a pdf file to be displayed on Safari. I checked the internet plugin folder as indicated but I did not find any Adobe plugin. So, problem not solved for me yet...
