Q: OS X Mavericks: Finder closes and restarts

Since the last update (the last i-Books update I think), the Finder closes and re-starts almost every one minute...

This wasn't happening at the first 10 days that I had Mavericks installed. I have already ran the "Repair Permissions" from the Disk Utility, but not thourgh the recovery mode though.

It is so annoying.

I found this "fix" after calling Apple Tech Support about my finder crashing and reopening every 20 seconds or so.  Quitting google drive appears to have "fixed" it.  I have to be wary that on restart, google driver restarts as well and I have to quit it again.  The problem, I think has also made my Powerpoint full screen presentation quit, probably when the presentation is looking for a linked video.

I have a few lingering questions about this "fix."  It's been reported for over a year and a half now.  How come no genuine fix from google or Apple?  Also, I have google drive installed on three other macs with identical configurations.  How come I've never had this problem on the three of them?  Why did it start only on my Macbook Air when I was constructing a fairly complicated Powerpoint presentation with 44 linked videos?  Something's fishy.

    Hi Guys

I really need urgent help! I am in Africa delivering a presentation for the next few days and my 2011 MBP has just started doing the finder thing! I cannot find anyway to stop it. I do not have google drive and no matter what, it keeps doing it - making my presentation useless due to the flicking back every 15 seconds.

Luckily, in safe mode it does not do it, so I know I can get tomorrow out of the way!

Is there a fix for this highly frustrating problem?

In my case the culprit was some leftover Dolly Drive remnants. Read these discussions:

Let us know if that solved it.

    Hi Dave

Thanks for the post, my MBP after being rebooted from a session in SAFE mode seemed to have fixed itself.

It is running sluggish, but it has been that way since Yosemite upgrade.

    Once again, thanks.

disco -- I'm running Yosemite on a Mac mini and it's great.

Install an SSD for your boot drive.

Do a fresh install of Yosemite.

Reinstall all of your apps from scratch, then bring over your data using Target Disk Mode.

Let us know if it's still sluggish...

    Dave
