Q: How do I fix problem of books not downloading in iBooks?

I installed Mavericks from the system restore drive on my iMac. About 1/3 of my iBooks, which were either purchased or free, will not download. There is the cloud icon in the corner of the book cover, but when I click on it, it will not download.

How can I fix this?

I also have a MacBook Pro running Mavericks and iBooks. It does not have this problem.
