SLOW MAIL UNDER MAVRICKS

Try Mailbox > Rebuild.

I've rebuilt twice now. Mail.app is terribly slow after my upgrade to Mavericks. So much so that I'm considering restoring to Mountain Lion to escape this "upgrade". It's quite unusable.

I gave up.

I rebuilt about ten times.

Created a new user account entirely, with a new "short" name and started mail from scratch.

Nothing helped - Mavericks is definitely a "downgrade" with respect to Mail.app's speed of operation.

I tried copying the old Mail.app from another Mountain Lion mac (that I will now never upgrade to Mavericks due to this issue) but it doesn't work, tons of errors.

I gave up and am now using Thunderbird on my "upgraded" macbook air.

Skipping Mavericks on the MBP and Mini, since I already now have one mac that ***** when it comes to .. email.. such a basic function when it's not working.

so irritating.

tempted to go through the lengthy and painful process of a format and fresh install.
