Q: Mavericks: Outlook 2011 forgets passwords.

Help!

I have Mavericks and Outlook 2011.

Every time my computer goes to sleep, it forgets the passwords it needs for my Gmail accounts in Outlook.

It only happens when it sleeps. Otherwise I stay signed in just fine.

I get an error message that says something about "invalid account or password." I re-enter my password when prompted, and then it resumes working just fine.

Why is Outlook forgetting my passwords?

(I do constantly check the "remember my password in Keychain" checkbox; and I have checked my profiles to make sure the passwords are saved correctly in Outlook.)

This is super-annoying.

    Hi ,

It happens, when you fill the wrong password, the password request box will carry on to pop-up… for this reason you actually do have a password problem and if you carry on to get the password request more than half an hour, then for sure that you are having incorrect password or it has been missing- then you can do a quick test.,  check the incoming/outgoing mail password, after all these changes do again login your Outlook 2011 account.

If still you are getting the same issue then you need to re-configure your Gmail account with Outlook 2011. Along with, you can take a help for other manual method via visiting on the below blog page: http://www.blogs.olmtopst.com/fix-mac-outlook-2011-keeps-prompting-for-password. html

Hope the information which is being here provided by me,  possibly will assist you.

Just chiming in - but this is why this community exists! Thank you for this - it was driving me nuts - and now it's a total non-issue.

I really thought that this might help me but sadly not.

I'm running Yosemite 10.10.3 and the latest Safari

    I have Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011 v. 14.3.9

I have several Exchange mail accounts that work perfectly as does my Me.com account.

I have a couple of Yahoo.com accounts too and it's these that cause me all the trouble. I must be told that my log in details are wrong every 2 to 3 minutes and asked if I want to re-enter my details.

    The message is here:

    Screen Shot 2015-05-17 at 20.15.01.png

Just to be sure I have tried my username and password on a couple of other computers via Firefox and safari and they always work.

I have tried the App nap solution. I have repaired the Keychain Access whilst Outlook was closed. I have deleted all of my mail.yahoo entries in Keychain. I have deleted the mail accounts and re-loaded them - that was interesting. After I deleted them I then went to add the accounts and it told me that the password was wrong - rather bizarrely, despite this news it still loaded all of my historic mail!!!?

Is this something to do with iCloud and Keychain?

I'm desperate here. For now my solution is to simply do without my Yahoo mail in Outlook and access it only via my iPad or a browser.

Also, and it may be related, I set a folder of pics as my screensaver and every so often it reverts back to the Mac standard images for seemingly no reason.

    Help please...........

I appreciate al the great information on this topic, I also thought it would solve my issue but after trying the fixes I am still getting the following

"Mail could not be received at this time.  The server for account "XXXX" returned the error "Login failure: unknown user name or bad password." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect.  Would you like to try re-entering your password?"

This is in Outlook Ver. 14.5.3 (150624) on OSX Yosemite 10.10.3.

This error repeatedly happens when I am entering the correct UN and PW.  After so many attempts Exchange locks the account and I need to call the IT department to have it unlocked.  I only use outlook to access the corporate exchange server for work email.

I do not get any errors/fixes when I run the Keychain first aid and actually can't find the password in there.

I also have to re-enter my password on BusyCal when this happens.

On my iOS device it works fine and I do not need to re-enter the password.  It also seems to work fine on Outlook Web App.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated, seems like this problem has only started happening the last couple of months, had been working fine before that.

I am having the exact same problem.  I"m running Yosemite 10.10.5 and Outlook 14.5.4 (2011 for Mac).  I also don't have the issue on the web version.  I've done the Keychain first aid and the box checking on Outlook sleep thing.  No change.  Somebody please help before I go crazy entering my password every few minutes.
