I have some playstation games but they are unplayable due to the fact i have no playstation. My games are final fantasy 8 and one i can't remember. if my games are deep in storage and will surface soon, i'll be able to play them on my mac right? what emulator do i use and do i need the disks or will a rom file be adequate?

there is one ps1 emulator but it only works with OS 10 its called PCSX it only works with PS1 games that have the original PS1 Bios i am pretty sure ff8 or 1 were original PS1 games i tried Gran Turismo 1 on the emulator and it works just fine but Driver 2 did not work at all and Driver just Driver got stuck at the Checking memory cards window. so i dunno it was hard to even find a emulator for mac for that matter there are ones for PC but i doubt you wanna use PC for anything like me. heres the PCSX link http://mac-psx.hansr.net/ firestorm and connectix VGXS did not work for me.

Hope this helps

The best Playstation emulator that there was, was called Virtual Game Station (VGS), and was originally by a company called Connectix.
It worked extremely well for most PS1 games (and had the added benefit that it could be modified in various ways and allowed an infinite number of saves). I do remember some problems with the FF games, but can't be sure.
It was my sole 'Playstation' until I bought a PS2.
You did need the disks in the mac, though.
Hunt around, you might find a copy somewhere - eBay?
Best of luck!

ADDITIONAL: I have just had a look on Amazon.co.uk, and there seems to be some copies of VGS available (probably used) on there.
