iPhoto to iMovie juddery playback

Latest vers of iLife.

Created a Ken burns slideshow in iPhoto, export out with 1080p settings. Then import in to iMovie. The playback is unusable on the pans, really juddery.

Is this a frame rate issue? How do I check? Really getting frustrated with it as its a project I need to get finished and on to disk for a wedding client, I really dont want to have to go back to making a simplified version on Windoze but looks like I might have to. PLEASE HELP!!!
