Q: iPhone 5 rear camera is not working

My iPhone 5 rear camera is not working at all. It happened out of the blue and all the sudden I just see a blurried image that gets stuck. Can anyone help me, please?

UK77, stop trolling and trying to convince newbies to delete their photos, that's not nice what you are doing. Deleting photos and videos has and cannot have absolutely no impact on this camera issue.

Oh my, this fixed my camera and flash light problem. I was just about to give in and send my phone away for a hardware fix. I've spent the last few days researching this, doing resets and all sorts of magic combos of actions. This worked for me. Well done Miso117

I Have the issue of the forward facing camera just deciding not to work, out of all of the suggestions I think different ones work for different people, my personal feelings on this issue is like with all business who capture a particular market like apple having  hooked all age generations on there products.

So, the press on the corner worked... But only for a few minutes then reverts to black. A repress sorts it again. Loose cable?

According to what i've red i can say it is a hardware issue maybe loose contact on the camera hardware which prevents the phone from detecting the camera that's why we cannot use it. Maybe we have left the phone in such a hot place like inside the car parked in a direct sunlight which makes the metal surface of the phone hot and might loose the connections on the inside. i've put my phone in the freezer right now and held a vice grip on the camera with a piece of cloth to prevent any further damage from the pressure, near the power button which makes loose contacts from the inside to connect to each other again and putting the phone in the cold place like freezer might help to reconnect loose ends. I'll reply what will happen after few hours.image.jpg

So my solution was to go to a genius bar and have them change the camera unit. it was a hardware problem.

Gently pushed the camera back into its normal position after experiencing all symptoms described on this forum and it worked, camera back to normal. Please see here for website I got the idea from http://osxdaily.com/2014/06/22/iphone-camera-not-working-press-fix/

Hi Guys, pressing the camera inside does work !

I had the same problem as you and tried everything. Nothing would work.. So i went to genius, they checked and reset the cable that links the camera to the phone, but this wouldnt work either.. So they told me i need to replace the phone for 280 euros.. Which i declined.. So on my way home i thought i have nothing to loose i will press as hard as i can on the top right corner.. And it worked again ! Yeaah

still i would advise you to check first at genius before using this method..

I have encountered the same problem with iPhone 5 which is up to date on 7.1.2 firmware.  Found this thread and read through it carefully, applied everything people suggested thoroughly but nothing worked...I am going to have to take it to Apple Genius Bar I guess and get an replacement.  And since it's outside Apple warranty, I am hoping to get my credit card company to cover it as my VISA does provided one year extended warranty without registration.

With all the money we spend on an iPhone you'd expect it last longer, wouldn't it?.....
