Unit testing in Xcode 5 without running the Simulator?

Is there a way to run unit tests in Xcode 5 without running the Simulator? I understand that the new tests get inserted into the application as a testing bundle, but surely there must be a way to not display the Simulator.

There used to be a way in XCode 4 with separation of logic and application tests, but all doco seems to suggest that they are now run together.

Cheers
