Character count in pages?

Hello. How can I get a "character count" for a selection in the new pages 5.0? You'd think it would be easier to find, since people need this function all the time.

I purposely do not have Pages v5 installed, and won't speculate how character count can be found, if indeed, Apple left it in the product.

Exactly four posts prior to yours are a couple of ways to get a character count via the Services menu in Pages v5. These are free services that you install that require selected text in your Pages document to activate and produce a pop-up dialog with the count. The advantage of these services is that they work in other applications where you may want to count characters.

As with most things Apple, this is actually pretty easy once you know where to look.

First, click VIEW then click SHOW WORD COUNT (it's the 3rd option from the top).

A small box will appear at the bottom of your current Pages window displaying that document's word count.

If you hover your mouse over the word count box, arrows will appear on the right-hand side, and you'll get options to show either character count or paragraph count.
