rMBP 15-inch bootcamp gaming: I have very good frame rates in BF4, but still experience stutter

Hi all,

I bought the latest rMBP with the GF 750M 2048MB videocard.

The machine works great, and despite all critics, even games run very well. Except some minor issue.

When running high demand games like Battlefield 3 and 4, the fps indicates between 50 and 75 which is very good.

Although, there is this unexplainable stutter or jitter.... This isn't represented in the fps though.

Does anyone else experience this?

Is there a solution?

My setup:

Bootcamp Windows 7 with all original Apple drivers except NVIDIA. I had to update these to be able to start BF4.

I have downloaded the latest 331.65 from NVIDIA and extracted them to C:/

Then I have modified the nvao.inf located in the folder Display.Driver (The one I just extracted)

I have changed the last two lines of the section below: (Bold text)

[Version]

Signature = "$Windows NT$"

Provider = %NVIDIA%

ClassGUID = {4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Class = Display

DriverVer = 10/23/2013, 9.18.13.3165

CatalogFile = nv_disp.cat

Then I went to Device Manager and manually updated the Graphics Driver.

Make sure you select the nvao.inf manually.

This should give you decent framerates, but probably also the glitches that I experience.

Hi, that would be impossible, because I explained incorrect :-)

Yes, I run Win7.

To select the nvao.inf as your driver, you have to choose "I want to choose from a list..." instead of searching in folders.

But first:

You have to take the nvao.inf file from the bootcamp drivers directory, because it does not excist in the original NVIDIA directory.

In that file you change:

[Version]

Signature = "$Windows NT$"

Provider = %NVIDIA%

ClassGUID = {4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Class = Display

DriverVer = 09/07/2013, 9.18.13.2716

CatalogFile = nvao.CAT

To:

[Version]

Signature = "$Windows NT$"

Provider = %NVIDIA%

ClassGUID = {4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Class = Display

DriverVer = 10/23/2013, 9.18.13.3165

CatalogFile = nv_disp.cat
