After upgrading to Mavericks, my computer no longer recognizes my ipod. Screen lights up when it's plugged in, but it doesn't get to the "connected" state and it doesn't show up on my computer, in the /Volumes folder or in iTunes. This has only started happening after I upgraded to Mavericks.
iPod (5th generation), OS X Mavericks (10.9)
I should also note, that I have restarted my computer and ipod multiple times and have attempted restarting the SMC on my mac, as per

all with no luck.
Also, I have updated to the most recent version of iTunes and have checked that the USB ports are being read correctly through the System Profiler. I have also plugged the ipod into the same ports that worked with my keyboard and mouse, with no different results.
For anyone offering solutions, my problem is similar. I upgraded to Windows 7, and now iTunes does not recognize my iPod 160. This is not fun, even less after trying to wade through online "support."
Any suggestions would be welcome.
