iPhone 4s "slide to unlock" unresponsive

Yesterday I ran into this problem for the first time, I took my iPhone out of my pocket, pressed the home button and swiped my finger to unlock it, but it just was unresponsive to it.

I can still drag down the notification center, but I can't tap any notifications.

I can also still drag up the "quick tools" menu, but can't press anything there.

My power button is broken, so I can't perform a hard reset.

The only sollution I found was to reset my phone, which worked yesterday, but today the same problem occured again, but this time I can't even connect it to iTunes anymore, it's stuck on "To allow acces, please respond on your iPhone".

So it seems like my iPhone 4s is totally useless now, I still receive notifications, but I can't respond to it, I still get calls, but I can't answer them.

Is there anyone else that experienced the same problem and found a long term fix?

Thanks for the reply, but as I explained in my post, my screen is working just fine (expect that I can't slide to unlock or slide to answer calls), and after a restore everything is back to normal, that seems more like a software issue

Here are some good, basic troubleshooting steps for the future:

- Quit the App by opening multi-tasking bar, and swiping the App upward to make it disappear. (For iOS 6, holding down the icon for the App for about 3-5 seconds, and then tap the red circle with the white minus sign.)

- Relaunch the App and try again.

- Restart the device. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430

- Reset the device. (Same article as above.)

- Reset All Settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings)

- Restore from backup. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766 (If you don't have a backup, make one now, then skip to the next step.)

- Restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
For this step, do not re-download ANYTHING, and do not sign into your Apple ID.

- Test the issue after each step. If the last one does not resolve the issue, it could be a hardware problem.

I just did the ios 9.2 update and cannot slide to unlock my phone after a day and a half of having it. My on/off button does not work either and I have been using the virtual assisted touch button for about 8 months. However when i try to power off the device through assisted touch the slide to power off won't work either. So I cannot press the power off/on button with the home button to reset. Also I plugged into iTunes and tried to do a factory restore and it is saying that I need to go into my device and go into the Find Myiphone and power it off in the cloud. But I cannot get into my device. I can see that I am getting notifications etc but cannot use it. I cannot even take calls as the slide won't allow me to.
