My Macbook Pro keeps freezing up every 5 minutes

I got my MacBook Pro new in late July and I have never had any sort of trouble with it. Since yesterday, my MacBook has been freezing up. At first it happened every once in awhile and then I started to notice it happened every ten minutes, like clockwork. It is not as frequent as every 5 minutes and I do not know the solution. It occurs no matter what program I am running. I was using chrome and I was on Youtube and the page would freeze up but the audio would continue. Now, when I run iTunes, everything freezes and stops including audio. The freezes last for about 30 seconds to one minute. I have tried a disk repair and that did not solve the problem. Now what?

Hey tmcguin,

Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing performance issues with your MacBook Pro. The following resources may help to resolve your issue:

First, you may want to reset the SMC:

Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

If the above does not resolve your issue, you may want to perform a Safe Boot:

Thanks,
