Keyboard Rattle 13" Retina Macbook Pro (Late 2013)

13" Retina Macbook Pro (Late 2013)

Macbook rattles when moving it from side to side. Definitely seem like it's coming from the keyboard (not the fan) . As if the chicklet tiles are sitting slightly loose. When the keys are held down the sound disappears.

None of my older macbooks made this sound. Seems odd for such an expensive machine.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it normal on the new pro's?

It sounds like you have a hardware fault. No need to panic, you can contact Apple using www.apple.com/support/contact if you are in a country that supports it or call the appropriate phone number on this page. Alternatively carry the MacBook Pro in to an Apple retail store or service provider to ask for a repair.

If you purchased this within the last 14 days directly from Apple, you can also return it and get a new one. No excuse needed. If purchased elsewhere you might have other options.

Hey, I have a 15 inch late 2013 Retina Macbook Pro and my laptop does the same thing with the keyboard. How did you resolve the issue? Did you just ignore it or ask for a replacement?

I just picked up a 15" rMBP (Late 2013) and the keyboard rattle is the first thing I heard out of the box. I hate to exchange it already but, for the money spent, I definitely want this bad boy rock solid. Any further resolution to this issue? I did a quick test with the wife's MacBook Air and absolutely no rattle of any kind.

Update on my situation. I exchanged the laptop and immediately opened the new one... same keyboard rattle. I spoke with a Genius who went into the back to listen and proceeded to open the laptop to check if anything was loose. Everything appeared to be in order. I simply can't imagine this is how the 15" rMBP (Late 2013) was designed. Again, no rattle or loose sounding keys with the wife's Macbook Air.
