Thanks.. The attachments selections have to do with how they are handled and do not apply.

Somewhere on the Mac there is a group of images of which that image is one of them. Where I do not recall as it was noticed in passing through on a search to solve another learning aspect... But how that image ended up on the OUTgoing mail for each message in one mail box is the puzzle I seek to solve.

There must be a way within which to 'cleanse' Mail of that action in one Email account out of seven.

Thanks

Source of the icon is from System Preferences; Accounts Passwords window has a box for images and that image came up. Clicking in that box I changed the image to a firefly. Then that image is alongside my name as Admin in the left My Accout pane. It ALSO IS in the outgoing MAIL drafts for ONE of SEVEN mail boxes.

Have not found how it got IN MAIL in the first place, nor how to remove it. I opened a different email box and created a draft message but it does NOT have that account icon.

Clues anyone??

Thanks... it did stay with a message I sent to another of my mail boxes on a different Mac, so I assumed it was in all outgoing messages.

Your reference to the address book helped .... I found a card for myself there with the image.. could not get rid of the image, but when I deleted the card for my name in the address book, the image disappeared with it. Sending a new email after that revealed that the image in the message had been deleted.

So, the answer to how the image got there seems to be keyed to the address book somehow.

Thanks
