Apps crash itunes, safari, mac app store, messages osx 10.8.5
I am having this problem that several people have managed to overcome where, after updating to 10.8.5, Safari, Mac App Store, Itunes, etc. crash when trying to open them. I do have internet connectivity and the Mail app works fine and so does Google Chrome. Browsing the forums, I have tried the following:
1. Booted into safe mode and tried accessing iTunes, Safari and the App store - did not work
2. Booted normally and checked - did not work
3. Logged in as guest user - All apps work as expected
4. Created a different admin user and logged in - All apps work as expected. Switiching back to the first admin user, I see the same issue as before.
5. Tried the 5-step diagnostic test that Linc Davis has posted here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5401944?answerId=23359538022#23359538022 . Though I have the results from this diag test, I am unable to run the same steps again - the error message returned is "The document “open_cVVIbRKt.txt” could not be opened. You don’t have permission.". I have also tried to repair permissions on the disk several times to overcome this, but that doesn't seem to help.
The results of the test are posted below:

Could I please get some help on this please? I have been stuck without being able to upgrade to Mavericks since the time it became available. Frustrating 😟
