Persisting kernel panic on my eMac, can't diagnose the problem.

Believe it or not, I still own an old 2005 eMac. It's still a good piece of kit for farting around on and I'd like to get a little more mileage out of it. My problem is every time I turn it on I get kernel panic. If I let the computer sit for a few months, it operates several minutes longer without incurring kernel panic. If I turn it back on an hour later, kernel panic occurs rather quickly. I've had some other problems too after it was suggested that I re-align the RAM: I got a fleshing light and no startup which I diagnosed to be something wrong with the RAM. A couple days later I started it up again and got a no-entry symbol instead of a grey apple symbol. A couple weeks after that I safe booted up fine and got a few minutes of use out of it before kernel panic hit again. My question is should I replace the RAM? Or it something much worse like a hard drive issue?

Hi, have you blown the dust out of it lately?

Do you know which exact Model it is?

If you don't know the model, find the Serial# & use it on one of these sites, but don't post the Serial# here...

Hey BD,

I can't tell if that manual is for the USB 1.1 or the USB 2.0 models. I recall there being a slight difference in case removal and reinstallation; if the procedure for the 1.1 model was used on the 2.0, the power switch could be seriously damaged.

I looked recently but could not find a manual that clearly indicated that it was for a USB2.0 eMac. Seen any?
