Is anyone else experience problems with Mavericks?

How do I get past the error message "The operation couldn’t be completed. (MoreSecurityErrorDomain error 5364.)" when installing Linksys software for my router?

Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

  1. Is this a firmware update for the router itself, or is it some Linksys application for your mac?
  2. If it's a Linksys application for your mac, you probably don't need it for the router to function.
  3. A better way to get past this error message would be to throw the Linksys router in the garbage. That's where it belongs. I finally got fed up with the cheap, crappy routers I had and got an Airport Extreme and an Express for bridging. I've got a drawerful of cheap, crappy routers; many are Linksys.

Thanks for responding Drew,

No, it was from the cd that came with the router. It's a model that I used about two years ago. When opening the "Set up Wizard I go through the security step of entering my computers password then on the next step I get the error message and I'm locked out. That is I can not procede loading the software for the router.

Thanks again,

John

You are expecting 2+ year old Linksys router installation software to just work with a new major release of OS X? Probably not so much. You should be able to configure that Linksys with your browser anyway.

Or better yet, pitch that Linksys and buy a new Apple Airport Extreme router. Not a marketing or fan-boy pitch. I have purchased two for different locations since 2008 and it truly is a set and forget about it solution.

In future posts to the community, be more specific in your subject line. Asking an open-ended question will attract everyone to post a reply who believes that Mavericks has violated their expectations.

I think you will need to go to Linksys site & get the latest version of that setup tool. Chances are old software will break on the newest OS.

Linksys support may have a way to setup via other means, or you may have to boot into an old copy of Mac OS to run it.

Have you enabled the option to use software from other sources? Gatekeeper could prevent you from running it, look in the Security section of System Preferences.

I don't know who has marked this helpful, but it really isn't. Your opinion of Linksys, or any other manufacturer's, product is irrelevant to the question asked.

I too have experienced this issue, and not with linksys software. This is an issue with the security features of OS X, and there is no obvious way to address the issue when trying to run "unsigned" software, which in turn attempts to run another application that isn't signed

The ONLY person that can mark a reply Helpful or Answered is the original poster. In this case "John frombc"

Being marked Helpful only says the post originator thought it was helpful. If you wish to get a reply marked Helpful, or even get it marked as Answered, then it generally helps not to trash talk the one person that can do that for you. Since this post is not marked Answered, and has one more Helpful left in the bag, if you provide good information, you might even get one of those.

Then again, this is a 3 year old post, so chances are the original poster has moved or since then.
