Actually, I don't know if this is a Mavericks / Mail 7.0 issue or not but I only noticed it post-Mavericks.

The issue is simple. I want to add a pop3 email account from a service that supports both pop and imap from the same server. Clicking on the + under accounts and "add other mail" allows me to enter my name, email address and passoword but then configures the settings for imap without asking.  Later, I can do things like change the port number to the pop3 port but Mail doesn't recognise that I want a pop account and so doesn't include the pop-specific features, such as "delete messages from server".

Any ideas/suggestions?
