When I am using FaceTime, volume on youtube and iTunes is muted.
Facetime mutes volume from other applications, notably iTunes and YouTube in Safari. (Maverick)

I found that these steps helped me to hear other volume sources better on my macbook:
- Once on factetime Go to the "Facetime" option (top left) then clicking "Services" then "Services Preference"
-Next search "sound volume" in the search option
-Once there you can control the volume under the "output volme" to your liking
Hope this helped! 🙂

please dont answer if you dont no what is question ....
Has anyone figured this out? This is so stupid. How can long-distance couples do things like watch movies/shows together and also have facetime on? It is only Mavericks that is having the problem. Has Apple fixed this yet?
