about partition

hi this is naresh ,i did partition my macintosh hd into two is it possible to make it as a one macinthosh hd without loosing any data on each part,if it possible plz let me know the procedure.....

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

If that second partition is for Windows, any version, you should not use Disk Utility to remove it. Use the Boot Camp Assistant program again to remove it and put the space back into the OS X partition.


Yes removing that partition will delete all data on it.


You never said it was a Windows partitioon in your first post. If you had I would of never suggested you use Disk Utility. Using Disk Utility is the wrong way to remove a Windows partition from a Mac.

The partition you want to remove

IF it is a Mac OS X partition use Disk Utility like I described in one of my other replies.


IF it is a Windows partition that you created with the Boot Camp Assistant app to install a version of Windows then use the Boot Camp Assistant app again to remove it.


Boot Camp is for partitioning a Mac hard drive and starting the install of Windows. If you have a program that needs Windows to work then whether you use use a virtual machine software program or boot camp you still need to install windows so you can run that program.
