Ipad was working yesterday - plugged it in to recharge overnight and this morning, it will not respond to touch. The time and date come up for about 10 seconds but the slide to unlock at the bottom is not working. Any suggestions

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Have you tried resetting your iPad?
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
Yes the apple logo comes up for about 30 seconds, time and date come up briefly then the screen goes black

Then it's time to restore the iOS software. Read the article all the way through to the end before you start. The last part of the support article talks about using recovery mode. You just might need to try that.
Tried this no luck - apple logo comes up - then the slide to unlock but still won't move - screen only stays up for about 10 seconds then the ipad goes black
