1. Hourly backups are kept for the equivalent of one full day

2. At the end of each day, the last hourly backup becomes the daily backup and is kept for one month

3. At the end of each week, the last daily backup becomes the weekly backup and is kept until the drive is full

I have years of backups of my old macbook pro, am I not able to view them with time machine from my new macbook pro? I was hoping

I could choose what data I wanted to import rather than using migration assitant I do not want to flood my new macbook pro with ALL that Data.

Did you mount the sparsebundle directly in finder?? That is the way to get your old files.. if TM does its usual hissy fit and in Yosemite form shows its lack of usefulness.

Although Pondini died before Yosemite arrived on the scene his instructions are mostly still valid.
