no sound coming from October 2013 macbook pro

I have the newest macbook pro, and on top of the infamous keyboard/trackpad freezing problem, the sound is starting to not come out now. Anyone know a solution to this problem? Or should I just give up and return it...? (I have 2 days until the 14 day timeframe for returns)

Things to check

go to system preferences.sound/ output see if you can select built in speakers, make sure the volume is up mute box is not checked

try plugging a set of headphones in and out several times (there is a micro switch that sometimes gets stuck)

go to applications/utilities/Audio MIDI set up output tan select built in there in the left, make volume is up and mute is not checked

Try a NVRAM/PRAM reset:

Power off, power back on holding COMMAND OPTION P R continue to hold these keys till you hear the start chime 2 times then release, reboot.

If still no joy take it back for another machine or a refund.

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.

If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.
