DLNA support for the TC

I use my TC for wireless backup and I also use the file sharing feature to transfer iTunes library / movies between it and my MB Air because the Air's SDD is not large enough to sync with all my movies. This works great as I change them out when traveling. I want to be ble to stream to my Apple TV or smart TV but can't do either due to the lack of DLNA support making it useless for steaming! The TV is fine I get that as it isn't Apple but not being able to stream too Apple's own TV device is ridiculous? I get that Apple may want the internal HDD for backups only but that is no reason why it shouldn't support DLNA for an external HDD or Apple should make Apple TV able to access the file share just like my Mac's do.

Does anyone know if there is a work around for this to achieve? If not then it's going back and I'll pickup a router and an external WD NAS to attach and save some cash in the process. I just like the idea of everything being all in one for this device!

Apple has their iTunes as a standard. And with that protected copyright so they are never going to allow DLNA to be used. They do not support any media servers in the TC.. never have and I suspect never will. People have found ways around it.. but you always need a player, eg WD TV, which can stream movies from raw files. Or you can use airplay for a device on the network to the ATV.. but ATV is also only a streamer.. the brains of the operation has to be somewhere else. ie itunes running on a computer.

You are trying to mix and match.. and that is something Apple will not allow.. you either go for the apple system.. or not. There is no half way mixed up approach.
