Issues opening both Illustrator and Calendar in OSX Mavericks

Hello, I'm experiencing issues opening my calendar and illustrator applications since upgrading to mavericks. Both applications run fine on my guest account, so I'm assuming that the problem originating from my main account on the computer. Basically what happens is the application icon will bounce in the dock, the light will go on, but nothing comes up. No windows, etc. The file menu is responsive to clicking but won't actually open any windows. One thing that I keep seeing repeated in messages like this is the use of the Clean My Mac application. I'm unsure, but is it possible that this program deleted some necessary files? If so, how can I get those files back without wiping my computer and re-installing mavericks?
