Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

Psmyth i see your userid just came into existence around the time the crashes started to make 20+ posts in different forum threads telling everyone to ask for a senior advisor To solve the crash problem.

There it is, the corporate turds inserting people in the forums to put pressure on the advisors.

The advisors told you guys a year ago to use more memory, you didn't listen. You wanted to make that extra 6% profit instead in the short run.

NOW THE ADVISORS CAN'T INSTALL MORE MEMORY.

Yes I don't post that often only when I have an issue (which isn't very often) but I do read the forums often.

As for your laptop analogy, if a laptop runs out of memory it starts swopping stuff in and out rather than crashing so you are talking about completely different things and not relevant to this topic which is a specific problem that has occurred with the introduction of ios7.

Again this problem is for a particular issue which affects multiple iPad hardware and even iPhones, memory might become an issue in the future but this is not what this thread is for and perhaps you should created a separate thread to cover your particular issue as you are adding nothing to this one atm, but tbh it was well known that the iPad air would only come with 1gb of ram and it was your choice to purchase one rather than an android tablet which might more suite your needs, but complaining about it afterwards is starting to get a little bit tired.

So let's get this thread back on track and focus back on the reason that this thread was created in the first place.

I returned my $800 iPad Air and gave them a second chance by buying the cheapest version...It gets returned tomorrow.

    Voting with my wallet.

BY THE WAY- I had to sign in again every time I responded to a new post, because- YOU GUESSED IT!!!  It crashes every 5 minutes.

Good if that's what you have decided to do and return it because you believe it's a physical memory limit rather than a bug that's your choice so now we can get back to the discussion about the bug in iOS 7 and getting a fix from apple as your issue will no longer be a problem.

Back to topic has anybody so far had any updates to there cases as yet from apple in the last few days, might give them a ring this afternoon to chase them for an update?

Hey $1 Green Target Toy guy, please stop yelling.  I know you are passionate about Low Memory Errors, but you need to chill.

Did anteanna gate or iPad heat get you this worked up?

You now or always have hated Apple and how Apple conducts business, we got it.  You make some interesting points, which we all fully understand.  Please move on.

jrayb, I've had a couple of calls from the senior advisor I've been working with. First for more logs and yesterday to say the engineers had crashed their iPads, and he felt it was being fast tracked.

That sounds positive the first step to investigating a problem is to reproduce it, let's hope we have some good news by next week.

Local Apple genius hinted that Apple is working on an iOS update that will add a little more DRAM to get by until iPad Air 2014 comes out with 2GB DRAM to fix the low memory crashes.

If 1gb RAM were the issue, why do I have NO problems at all with my iPhone 5s? (Same in every way except for screen dimensions and pixels)

I follow these threads out of general interest. Maybe it is just the the title of the thread, but I do not sense as much of a problem with the iPad Mini Retina? I wonder if this is true. My friend has had one now for a few weeks with no complaints.

Hunh? The above statement makes no sense.

Last night I tried using YouTube and it just keeps on buffering. My internet connection using my MacBook Pro, iPhone 5S, iPad 2, 3 and iPad 1st gen are all fine. When I play my YouTube app there is no buffering but when I use my iPad Air it can't even view the thumbnails in YouTube.

It's shared mammory for system and graphics.  iPhone 5s with lower resolution may not experience the low memory crashes.

Good News...I am following several discussions on this topic since I am having the same issues. The post below is from another person with the trouble that has been working closely with Apple engineers.

    GOOD NEWS!

I received word back today from Apple Engineering. They have confirmed that it is a bug in the iOS system that crops up when connecting to various websites.

They are working on a "fix" and it will be in the next update. No delivery date was promised.

    Now we wait.

For some whose default mode is <impatience="on">waiting will be a challenge</impatience>.
