Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

    carolinseattle,

If you think it is hardware ... when was your Air manufactured? (When/how did you buy it?)

I am only hypothesizing due to  rbrylawski's claim to have had no problems and gets no data warnings or crashes.  I am really only having problems with apple apps, thus, there must be something wrong with my iPad.  I have wiped mine clean and don't have any problem with any other apps.  What else can I think?

An early build iPad Air ... hmmm(?)

If they agree to a swap make sure you get a new one, not a refurbished one ... and make sure to "smoke test" it with Apple staff before you leave. I assume you are going to an Apple Store?

Do you have "one thing" that reliably causes problems to test against?

What iOS version are you at?

Also based on other posts here, if you do get a new one and it is not at 7.0.4, ask that they upgrade the iOS from a Mac in the store ... Not over WiFi.

Yes it is an Apple store .  I am on 7.0.4 and I always update via iTunes on my iMac.  It crashes on the 9 to 5 website but that isn't my main concern.  It crashes at least once a day on safari.  Normal use and not looking for trouble.

I am more worried about the future...

About the "November 1st theory"; I'm afraid this theory is false. My iPad Air was bought December 4th (it shipped to the store that same day) and crashed 8 times last Saturday due to Low Memory problems.

    To our customers,

At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers. With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment. We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better.

We launched Maps initially with the first version of iOS. As time progressed, we wanted to provide our customers with even better Maps including features such as turn-by-turn directions, voice integration, Flyover and vector-based maps. In order to do this, we had to create a new version of Maps from the ground up.

There are already more than 100 million iOS devices using the new Apple Maps, with more and more joining us every day. In just over a week, iOS users with the new Maps have already searched for nearly half a billion locations. The more our customers use our Maps the better it will get and we greatly appreciate all of the feedback we have received from you.

While we’re improving Maps, you can try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps by going to their websites and creating an icon on your home screen to their web app.

Everything we do at Apple is aimed at making our products the best in the world. We know that you expect that from us, and we will keep working non-stop until Maps lives up to the same incredibly high standard.

    Tim Cook

    Apple’s CEO

It was a great thing from Tim Cook: he simply admitted that problem...

    Apple, If you're there, knock!

To Continue, now my iPad is experiencing lags. For eg, when you switch from one app to another or switch back to the home screen, the animation has the lagging effect. This is when I have two or more apps open. Anyone else experienced this?

    Hey all Wemdog here again,

This will be my final post on this matter, after talking with apple customer support for now almost 6 weeks,  after all was said and done, I sold my Ipad air online since I was past the return date.  This was due to the fact that shelling out almost 600 dollars for the Ipad Air and it was having all these issues i was told by apple to basically do the next software update and hope it fixes it.

"I just got an update.  We can see the Safari crashes and one for the app Star Born Wanderers.  We are investigating the cause, as we have received other reports of Safari crashing with the iOS 7,  and we are working towards a resolution.  We recommend that for now you do any software updates that are available.  I do apologize I know it’s frustrating.  I will keep you updated with any new information."

I am done with apple products good luck to you all, and I, hate to say it, am going to Samsung.  I bought the Note 3 10.1 2014 edition and can open the 9to5mac.com article on two browsers at the same time with no crashes(a true multi tasking tablet)

I wish you all the best of luck, and maybe apple will get off of their holier than though attitude and fix their iOS 7 and lack of memory issues.

No I have not been advertising for samsung. I am simply stating where I am at.

Also Rotten red apple your catch phrase seems to be... you've been doing this since last year, its old its cliche...

You have also been here litterally since last year saying the same **** thing over and over again.  Stop drinking the koolaid and open your eyes.   Apple is a company they are going to do what ever they can to get your money, but when you blindly follow them like the sheep you are I cannot talk to you.  I use to be just like you thinking apple was holier than thou and thier products were uncomparable.  Unfortunately this is not the case anymore, following the same strategy that they have always done of releasing a device, then releasing what it should have been 6 months later( the problem with that is the competition has now surpased apple in my opinion)   Also for my needs apple just doesnt cut it anymore, I need a true multitasking tablet the Ipad Air just isnt that.
