Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

Yeah, it's a shame, installed "it" yesterday and did a run on the offending site and it's the same... Same crash.

So I don't know what they are fixing, when they will do it, but it's not done....

For so e reason, after my posting on page 2 of this thread I can no longer see this thread by coming in thru the email updates link.  I sign in and this is what I get.

The only way I can get here is Thrush's my stuff clicking on my original post.  Weird.

This is what happens when the socialist regime of Manzana Inc. deletes a comment and it is removed from informing people that even their latest efforts have still failed to resolve the issue.

My safari crashes about 3-5 times per hour on a bad day. I also get the white screen of death often. Is it still possible to get a refund if I purchased my iPad air during launch? I am considering getting something else instead since the crashes just keep getting worse. I don't want a defective tablet.

You had 14 days to get an unconditional refund after purchase.  Since you purchased your device in November, you're well past that.  If you choose to go to another brand, good luck.  Or just hang in there and see if iOS 7.1 solves this for you.

Looks like there was actually a story posted on yahoo.com yesterday stating the issue is known to occur with 30% or less battery life. I never paid attention to the battery meter when I saw this problem. The article stated 7.1 is supposed to resolve it.

"Looks like there was actually a story posted on yahoo.com yesterday stating the issue is known to occur with 30% or less battery life. "

    It probably does.

But also when at 100% or less.

I have never seen a report of this issue occurring when the battery is at 0% charge.

    Problem solved.

My problem, so far is with iBooks, is the low memory crashing.  Engineering now has had my crash reports for 2 weeks, and apparently has no solution.

I just the system installed and iBooks, period.  I have installed anywhere from no books to 400, to date and have another 200+ to go.  On a day where I work on it for, let's say, 8 hours, I run about 120 crashes in those 8 hours whether, downloading, installing, reading or just lying open, these low-memory crashes will happen and if it's not yet crashing, it runs like molasses through snow.

Hopefully, 7.2 will have the fix we need, but Apple is completely stum on the matter.  Still better than an Googdroid,,however,

    rbutler222,

The apple engineers have had my crash reports and working on them for over 2 months now,  the only resolution I have recieved is update the device with any apple updates, and lets hope that fixes it.

My problem is once I really dial it up and not sit in one app.  If you use your iPad to sit in one app pretty much all the time it's more or less stable with the exception to Sardinei / Sacrashi / Safari.

Once you start doing any real multitasking. Switching between Sacrashi, copying pasting, messages, emails etc.  ios on the IPad air begins to choke. Apps freeze, things unexpectedly close it really is a choppy bi polar experience riddled with crashes. This isn't the apple I have grown to know and trust over the last decade.

I have this same safari crash problem with my air 32gt. If I open a heavy website, safari just crashes immediatly. If I have many tabs open,it will reload the tabs if I change them, annoying. Sometimes crashes too...

Ive checked this software "System status" and it says in "memory-tab" that in normal use air has only 40-80mb free memory.. Whys that ? I dont find any software that can clean up the memory, like my iphone has.

New devices and OS's aren't perfect.

I think the problem is simple.

Most of you people simply dont spend money on many things ( or have the money to spend )... so when you spend 700 bucks on an ipad you think " oh my lord I've spent so much money im etitled to nitpick at everything because I SPENT SO MUCH MONEY. "

Please go with android, they are much cheaper. Its odd to me how you people keep obsessing over things you literally can do NOTHING about.
