Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

Since I started completely powering off overnight, I've not had any crashes. So far, so good.

Maybe this is why I never have had a single crash.  I always power my iPad down at night.  Always.

I'm surprised an enterprising attorney hasn't visited these boards and implemented a class action lawsuit. Of course, when resolved, the attorney would get $5M and we would get $30-Off coupons on future purchases of Apple products that don't work right.

Because of all the millions of people who have iPad Air, this has not been an issue for the vast majority of users.  No lawyer in his right mind would read this thread and think that statistically, crashing iPads is rampant so a suit would not yield them anything.

I always power down the Air when not in use and I close all pages by double tapping the home button to save the battery. I also clear cookies and history on a daily basis for security.

I have crashes, but very few.

Considering the number of people exposed to asbestos, an infinitesimal number have actually demonstrated asbestosis. Yet multitudes of attorneys have been involved in class actions. I suspect in this case, there just may not be enough at stake or there is not a lot of awareness. SEVEN class action suits were filed the DAY Target announced their security breach and there is no evidence yet that anyone will suffer financially.

How on earth do you know that? When games and other software are seriously buggy (for everyone) you still only get a very small portion of the total complaining about it on the net, most just don't bother.

On the other hand, some data in this thread suggest it's a universal problem, e.g. getting several new iPad Airs and all having the same issue. The likelihood of that if only a very small portion of iPads have this problem is very small.

Were you the one claiming your Air doesn't crash? Please video it and post on youtube. Surf to some of the critical sites and stress test a bit, scroll back and forth etc. Wouldn't take long (certainly less than the time you spend in this thread). If you ignore this request or find a lame excuse to not do it you'll have pretty much zero credibility in your claim about not crashing.

Im not sure what to do, before my year is up i guess ill call apple and waste my time working through the hoops to see if they can fix it. I do know i cant knowingly sell this ipad air to anyone.

I agree with you. Anyone claiming their ipad air does not crash should show us a proof by posting a video of stress test this thread talked about.  We represent just few of millions of ipad air owner who took time to post our issues in this forum. Vast majority don't bother posting their issues online.  This is true with any products people purchase. Complaints always represent small portion compared to overall problem.  Many of us have tested one ipad after another ipad at Apple stores and they all failed. So we know for sure this problem exist in all ipad airs. To this date, we have not seen one single video proof their ipad air doesn't crash.

Ps I've noticed that people who claimed their ipad doesn't crash have many many points.

I had so many exchanges for documented problems, that I was given a full return on my air that I purchased on launch day. That happened last week. I bought a less expensive one to see if a fresh off the shelf version helped. It did not, so I will be returning this one and waiting for either a memory upgrade, or a software upgrade if it fixes the problem, and buying another then. I just wish I wouldnt of sold my ipad 2:(

Ambassadeur5000 doesnt realized that some of us don't buy new ones every year. And maybe he/she is joking. I spent $829 on an iPad that should not be crashing. The solution is not to just wait for another. Unless of course you have piles of money to burn, which I do not.

I'll tell you what I've learned. Give the products time for review before buying. I always have to do os upgrades, and hardware upgrades the second the come out because I'm impatient. Right now I wish to god I could easily get Mavericks off my mbp. Its awful. Moutain Lion was spectacular. I have friends that always tell me to wait until they get the bugs out before buying a new product. I buy the second version of phones for this reason. I will not buy an iPhone 6. I will wait for a 6S. I bought a 4S and 5S and had zero problems with both. Apple seems to be rushing things the last couple years. The hardest part of this will be waiting, as I've really gotten used to my iPad being a part of my daily routine. I'll probably keep my eyes out for an iPad 2 running ios 6, and use that to tide me over.

Yes we know, in November. I don't think 9 months from now is considered soon.

I just read today that the iPad Air will be replaced by the iPad Pro. If that's true it looks like another iPad 3 aka the new iPad problem being swept under the rug.  Seeing how I bought the iPad 3 and now iPad Air I should make some lemonade.

I have nothing to provde to you or anyone.  My iPad doesn't crash.  Maybe I don't sit there and push it beyond it's abilities, but still it has yet to crash.  But I do believe some do crash.  There was a guy at Starbucks this afternoon with an Air.  His Air was crashing on Safari.  Yet mine wasn't.

OK......so I went out to 9to5Mac and I did take a video.  Unfortunately, I can't upload the video as it's over 2MB, which is larger than the forum will allow me to upload.  But it was a minute long and I pushed 9to5Mac as hard as I could.  I scanned up and down the page.  I change to different areas within the site and my iPad didn't crash.  I can't get the video to upload because it's too big.
