Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

2 questions to the floor (and with respect to everyone):

Am I wrong in thinking noone here is saying that ipad airs are perfect and without problems and more like people are giving their experiences with respect to how they use it and find it?

And following on with that with respect to "Scroll down much faster, zoom in and out, and do it for at least 1 minute", why?

These iPads have issues. Most users here are having issues with them to different degrees and we have to work around these pathetic issues of the ipad air but have we not tested enough via the zoom in and out quickly, scroll down and up like a madman, visit pages you never go to, double tap on wallpapers etc?

Perhaps it's just me and I've been following this thread too long

My Nokia 5110 never crashed, you know

Sorry, but your test proves nothing to me.  I've been around computers/hardware/software for the past 30 years.  There is no way your iPad Air is any different than anyone else's iPad Air.  Intermittent OS/browser crashes can happen at any time.  That's why they're called "intermittent".  There is not one test you can do that will crash the browser 100% every time.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  They're the hardest problems to resolve in software.  My Safari was crashing multiple times a day for months, until I decided to minimize the number of open tabs to 2-3, while loading sites that were crashing Safari on another browser (Puffin).  I've been crash free now for two weeks....same iPad Air...it didn't just fix itself....it's how I choose to use the browsers I have that stabilizes my iPad, and has kept it crash free for the past two weeks.

Hi, I totally agree with your considerations above.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_leak

    Talking about Memory leaks

A memory leak can diminish the performance of the computer by reducing the amount of available memory. Eventually, in the worst case, too much of the available memory may become allocated and all or part of the system or device stops working correctly, the application fails, or the system slows down unacceptably due to thrashing.

    ...

    Serious Memory leaks include those:

    - where the program runs for an extended time and consumes additional memory over time...

    ...

Why? Because it's called stress test! I know that ALL ipad airs crash. No one has proven it doesn't crash. Some suggest to close all apps and safari tabs... Been there done that but still crashing even under normal usage. When I perform stress test, all apps are closed, only one safari tab is open and ipad is rebooted. 9 out of 10 times it will crash under normal usage. But faster scrolling will cause it to crash 100%.

I didn't think I had to go in details and explain everything. I wish this forum had age restriction.

Dude if you know about software then add comments regarding software but linking Wikipedia with a generic definition of a memory leak is insignificant at best

    It´s a tragedy!!!

You can´t even use it to surf the web!

I had iPad 1 and 3 - I loved them, but the Air is fiasco! I don´t think Apple care about this problems, they sell it anyway. And most people, maybe don´t understand what happens when the apps are crashing, they just restart...

The lack of RAM memory, I think this is a big problem, memory leaks or not! What happens to the Air when they add new "flashy" features in iOS8? The lifecycle seems to be very short for the Air, good for Apple, not so good for the customers!

Therefor I sold mine (running ios7.1) I can´t afford a tablet with that poor stability... I´m disapointed

I´m looking for the Surface Pro2, I know that the are not comparable to an iPad, it´s a different product... But maybe I can use it to surf the web without reloading and crashes?

If you are planning on merging itunes music onto the surface pro it will take some doing it is possible but a lot of work. Instructions can be found online

Have found on my ipad air and safari

if i disable java script it seems to not crash.

Also i am finding that Apple seem to be

cutting corners with there software hardware,

my iphone 5 had robotic sound and bad antenna,

my new iphone 5s first worked ok with ios7.4

but the antenna is still not good, this gives bad couverage.

My hardly used ipod touch has 2 lines from top to bottom of the screen.

At work our Apple pro hard disk failure.

Maybe Apple has to take a good look about the quality of Apple products

    in the future.

My replaced iPhone 5s just had its second crash. A Facebook message popped up on the lock screen and it made the phone soft restart. It's the backboardd issue I expect. Had a whole new handset and this is the second time since late December it's crashed. Safari crashes but it never takes the phone down with it.

So now Apple deletes my previous post that stated nothing but truth and fact about my inferior ipad air? Very classy.
