Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

Well, I'm not going to stop posting.  This is a forum, not just for people to whine and moan.  It's a forum people read to see who is experiencing issues, is everyone having the same issue and is there a solution for an issue. I not only have the right to offer a balanced view that proves, I don't have an issue.  You can't censor me.  I can't censor you.  You can keep posting your disatisfaction.  I won't tell you to stop that either.

iOS 7.1 is supposed to address these issues. I read that it is scheduled for release in March.

I have see both the Safari crash as well as the black screen reboot on my (and my brother's) iPhone 5s, as well as my 1st Gen iPad Mini (they actually replaced it for me even though it was 2 weeks past the 1 year warranty. Since it worked perfectly on iOS 7.03 then experienced issues of when upgraded to 7.04, does lend itself to issue the software.

The replacement iPad Mini certainly does it a lot less but it still happens. The replacement out of the box  had 6.XX on it and was updated directly to 7.04. Was the incremental step updates a contributing factor to why my previousMini was so unstable? Who knows.

As frustrating as it is for us, Apple isn't going to issue an update unless they're fully insured it's going to address issue.

Certainly most of the frustration that we are experiencing might be alleviated if Apple would allow us to at least go back to the previous version.

Since I started powering down owner night, I have not had any problems with Safari crashing UNTIL I went to that web site. If I stretch or pinch the screen in landscape mode, it crashes.

Why do you continue to post on a thread that does not concern you?? If your ipad does not crash, then how did you even find this thread. What a joke!!  Either you have no life and enjoy trolling threads or you are an Apple plant.

If you notice and of course I fully expect you to mock this, but I have over 10,000 points for being a helpful contributor to this forum.  I found this thread when I knew I was getting an iPad Air.  I knew full well that some people were complaining about crashes and low memory issues.  But I got my new device anyway, and I thought it was interesting I was experiencing the issues you and some others were whining about.

I don't just hang on this thread.  I hand on a lot of threads.  I spend lot's of hours helping people with their iPad issues.  When they can't sync, when they can't download an app, when they forget their password, I help people.  I'm not an Apple plant.  I don't work for Apple.  Apple doesn't give me any more support than any other customer.

What do you do to help people on this forum?

    Hi,

Do you get a crash at

    http://www.nin.com

    when using in landscape mode?

Yes, I just got my first ever Safari crash on this site.

I've never claimed iPad Air doesn't crash or that I didn't believe people were having issues.  I've just maintained mine wasn't crashing, at least how I use it.  And even the 9to5Mac site didn't crash my Air.  But when I loaded this site, within moment, my Air went back to my home screen.  I guess it's a good thing I'm not particulary interested in the content of this particular site

Thank you, rbrylawski. I and most others are not here to bash apple but are here out of continued frustration. If apple would have been honest and told me that it is a known issue and to sit tight while they come up with a fix i would be fine with that. For them to turn their head on me while under warranty, force me to purchase applecare, etc is no way to treat a loyal customer. Im quickly starting to feel as though i had bought it from a shady street vendor in Hong Hong. Just be honest.

iTunes has it's own very significant problems. There is a separate discussion board on this. After investing thousands in iPods and music downloads, I abandoned iTunes and moved to MediaMonkey and Spotify.

Greg you are out of line. I never said I was happy with it(until after you put the words in my mouth). I said I love it, and I meant while it's working. It's not very complicated. And no it would not dissuade me from buying another after they fix the problem. I have issues with mavericks, but that doesn't mean I will never use another apple OS X. I clearly stated I need to be patient and wait to see reviews before I run out and buy one. My mothers Samsung TV was a piece of garbage. That doesn't mean they all are. I'm HAPPY with mine.

This forum is here for people that are having problems with the airs to discuss them. Why you are here personally attacking me and insulting makes no sense. In other words, go away.

Very few (if any) companies will publicly admit a flaw with their product.  Nikon introduced the full frame D600 a year ago.  Immediately, people began getting oil spots on their sensors, which translated to spots on pictures.  Nikon never admited an issue, but for anyone who had the oil sensor issue and their camera was sent in for service/cleaning, Nikon quietly replaced the mechanism that caused the issue.  And a year later, which is not typical for the life-cycle of a full frame camera, the D610 was released.

I'm a Nikon fan.  I've had Nikon DSLR's since the year 2000.  Had that happened to me, I'd have been disappointed, but at least Nikon took care of the effected customers, while never admitting blame.

Apple has a storied reputation for being very quiet about new releases and very quiet about fixes for products already released.  The only reason Apple had to admit there was an antenna issue on iPhone 4 was because it was so widespread, it had become comedy material for Jay Leno and had grown to become well documented by the press.

Compare that with Proximity sensor issues.  It was never publicly acknowledged by Apple.  BUT, it was fixed in a software update.

I think people here are expecting something Apple is not going to do.  They're not going to say iPad Air or iOS 7 has an issue.  But everyone should know that while Apple does not participate in these forums (except for moderators who delete or edit posts that violate the terms of use we all agree to when we joined Apple's Hosted Forum) Apple is most certainly reading these posts and is hard at work on a major software upgrade, which I'm sure everyone on this thread hopes will solve this issue.

    Be helpful then.

You claimed your iPad Air DOES NOT CRASH and refuse to accept the FACT that your iPAd Air AND ANYONE ELSE'S crashes just as mush as ANY other when you actually USE IT.

Yes, on a short video you can minimize the HUGE problems the Air's hardware and software have by booting it up fresh, open a single tab in Safari and carefully scrolling up and down for a bit (and for all we know you may have had to shoot that video several times before you were able to scroll it a bit without it crashing) but your Air does not have anything special and when actually USED like a 2014 top of the line tablet it WILL CRASH like ALL Airs do.

I am not even sure it's an Air since your 240p (!!!!!) video seems shot with a VGA camera from 10 years ago and almost in complete darkness...

Judging from your unwillingness to make another video where you ACTUALLY show it's an Air and that you can zoom it or put it in landscape (which you would HAVE TO DO if you were actually reading that site, you know...) I would say it's not and you are not in good faith.

P.S. just read that you have just admitted that your "special" iPad Air(?) that "doesn't crash" has in fact crashed on another site... oh.. OK then, nothing to see here, yours is nothing special then, it's just a normal buggy crashy unstable unreliable iPAd Air(?) just like ALL of them.

OK, to be fair, since this is the first time my Safari quit, my iPad didnt' crash.  It just went back to my home screen, and I was immediately able to tap Safari again and the page was there.  That's far from disastrous.  But yes, if it makes you happy, Safari quit for me on this site.  And your assertion, I have to make another video proving I have an Air is ludicrous.  In settings on my iPad Air the model number is listed as:  MD787LL/A

Feel free to plug that in your Google search bar and see what model iPad I have.

    And crows as well-

What is so funny about my statement? C'mon people I made it very clear. WHEN MY IPAD AIR IS NOT CRASHING I LOVE IT. I love reading magazines and books on it. I love listening to music on it. I love streaming movies to my Apple TV from it. I HATE TRYING TO SURF THE WEB ON IT. I believed some in here that it was not all airs, and yes, loved it enough to take it back and exchange it four times, because ALL THEY WOULD DO IS EXCHANGE IT FOR ANOTHER. After that many exchanges they recognized there was a problem and let me return it for a full refund four months after buying it(i previously stated that I did not have crash problems for the first two months I used it, and in those two months I did not use it heavily, because of my jobs hours). I am not some shmoe who will be jumping excited for the next air to come out and buy it right away. But when apple puts out another ipad out, and ups the ram or fixes the software, or whatever the **** the problem is, and I give it enough time to make sure it is solid, I will buy another. If the next one has the same issue, I will not.

I was here for support for my air. But for some reason the way I've explained myself has put me out there for you to disrespect. I thought the point of these places was for us to disciples the issues, and work together to try and solve the problems. But now of course instead why don't you pick this a part and have a two page discussion about how big a fool I am for buying another apple product. Time well spent.

I'm done here. Good luck everyone.
