Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

    Hi simon

Whats the speed/ browsing speed etc like compared to the air? , I have a note 10.1 older version, (my ipad air was sent back last week and got the £639 refund). And was thinking of the 2014 edition,  with its better 2560 res screen.

    Tony

Well. Mine is getting worse as well

Crashing constantly just looking at images searched on google. As you scroll through the photos it crashes

I may be a bit in trouble for a return as I purchased it in the states and live in the UK

Unfortunately this is the end of my love Affair with apple as my iphone has been rendered useless by IOS7 as well

    Cheers. Peter

The update was a fix for SSL security issues it wasn't intended to fix the memory issues.

Many times I have seen upgrades fix issues that aren't addressed in the public description ... Therefore, I ask.

Called Apple last night. Spoke to the guy for quite some time. Had me reset the iPad to "as new". Took the time to go step by step through each job to make sure I had all my data saved. I am Impressed with the customer service.  Said he would ring back Saturday to check if all is okay

I don't usually have luck with fast fixes but will see

I don't want to spoil it for you, but I did this two times already and now it's worse than ever (+50 low memory crashes the last month).

Yeah reset as new .. been there several times (and don't restore from backup) and guess what after manually adding all your email accounts and apps it crashes like before.

Big shout out to John Lewis .. collected my Air yesterdsay and will send my New SAMSUNG Note once they have recieved the air. Oh and by they way have refunded the delta to my credit card ... .AWESOME Servide ..something apple could perhaps learn from.

Will let you know how I get on with my Note (expecting it tomorrow) :-)

Oh by the way I did upgrade to the latest IOS before it went bacl and true to form 9to5 crashed it !

Oh don't worry. I know it won't work

He was already talking about the next step. Sending it in.

I said I am getting to where I was a refund if possible

I was impressed at how much time he spent and his apparent concern.

    Cheers. Peter

SO SICK AND TIRED OF THESE CRASHES BUT I DON'T WANT ANOTHER COMPANIES APPLE RIP OFF TABLET I WANT A IPAD AIR THAT WORKS WITHOUT CRASHING AT EVERY OTHER SITE I LOOK AT. ios 7.1 BETTER ADDRESS THIS ISSUE OR I'M GOING INTO MY LOCAL APPLE STORE EVERYDAY TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS MAJOR FLAW.

    THATS IT IM DONE...

Performance is quite choppy inside of games I have noticed stutter and the iPad Air gets hot.

That being said I looked at other tablets and the build quality and design don't compare.

However from a web browsing standpoint that's a different story.  Internet Explorer on Windows 8.1 tablets is swift and responsive without any crashes.  Ditto goes for Chrome on Android tablets.  If you need a web browser on your tablet to just work stay away from the iPad never thought I would say this.  For everything else, though I would not switch.

After the SSL security hole leaving our communications wide open for 18 months I have no confidence at all in Apple's software and iOS development team to fix this issue.  They are more worried about upcoming products like iPhablet and iWatch right now instead of fixing this problem hoping they can sweep it under the rug and hide behind their logo.

There's a worm in that Apple and it's making the whole bushel of products rotten. As I've posted already, Apple has lost me as an iTunes user after spending THOUSANDS on 6-8 iPods and over 3,000 music downloads. I manage my music now with MediaMonkey and Spotify.

I have an iPad Mini and an iPhone. As long as I do a complete power off overnight, most of my crashing has stopped on the iPad Mini, though certain sites still crash Safari. If Amazon keeps upgrading its Kindle, I plan to move to that platform. I moved from the Kindle to the iPad Mini then this problem started. My iPhone has been pretty stable, but after the most recent iOS updgrade and a MyFitnessPal app upgrade, that app constantly crashes and is no longer usable on my iPhone...I have to use the iPad version.

It's bad enough that Apple isn't aggressively addressing this issue. What's worse is their total official silence on what has to be a huge issue based on what I hear and read. I would guess that there is no public acknowledgement because there is no 100% cure for the problem yet.
