Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

What's really puzzling me it is the nature of this damned issue.

Low memory crashes are present since first generation IPADs...

Ther are deeply inborn in IPADs and IOS as a "design/market choice"...!

    Hello everybody,

Obviously, I am newcomer here even though I had been lurking around here like many others before I decided to join in.

Here is my story with Safari regularly crashing on my iPad Air (128GB Wifi).

I got fed up with Safari crashes

    2) My iPad was restored and set up as new (all of my apps were installed from AppStore, in other words directly from the device itself, not from iTunes by syncing with my iMac)

    3) Safari crashes regardless

    4) I have contacted local Apple support with the issue, described what I had done prior to the call (device restart, restore as new as with step 2)

    5) As they suggested possible hardware issue my iPad was replaced

    6) The new iPad was set up as new etc. (the very same steps as with 2)

    7) Guess what, Safari crashes

    8) I have contacted local Apple support again, this time they suggested the possibility of broken iCloud data. Also, they performed online diagnostics.

    9) I was ask to set up my new device as new without installing any apps, providing AppleID and syncing with the iTunes

    10) So, over the last weekend I was browsing  with 'barebones' Safari without any of my apps installed, passwords synced etc.

    11) Guess what, I have experienced numerous crashes and the log has become flooded with the infamous 'low memory entry'

    12) I have contacted Apple support again with the results. They made online diagnostics again and as well filled for a support ticked, supposedly to be addressed by 'engineers'. In short, they escalated the problem to higher level/authority.

In three days time, they are going to get in touch again.

I haven't had any crashes where I actually see the device reset itself, but I believe it's because I'm still in the habit of fully closing apps on a regular basis as was recommended for earlier devices. When I look at my diagnostics page, I have a lot of reports of low memory plus several "LatestCrash" reports. I have a 32GB Air with both WiFi and cellular. I'm on iOS 7.0.6 (recent update). I've just turned on the sending function to get these reported to Apple as well.

Thanks to everyone for reporting these problems!

Yes, this made me to re-enable the feature "Automatically Send Diagnostics and Usage". I had it disabled previously, which in fact, I should have had enabled from the very beginning - just provide some feedback in case, something went wrong. Apparently, something must have gone wrong there.

I'm watching and see how it performs first before I update

My crashes are no where as frequent as most that I read

    About here

    I'll be following closely!

Have installed 7.1 on iPad and air iPhone 5s 32gb still crashes in safari and mercury browsers.

    Well done Apple.

Apple have good smart hardware, but the quality of the Apple software is not user friendly and very buggy.

Set up as new, still rebooting when quickly switching between apps. So does Safari on believe the hype page. Seems to refresh pages too. Though Safari seems super responsive, loading pages in split seconds.

I really hope that I'm wrong but I think nothing has changed as regards the low memory issue.

As NOT said in the release notes, indeed.
