Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

As of today, I have the 4th iPad Air replacement. I already everything that they suggested including not using my back up and set up my iPad Air as a new device. I installed all my generic apps, like youtube, HBO, Amazon, Netflix and right infront of them my iPad Air crashed. It seems that the "Geniuses" at the store can't figure it out. All they do is give you a brand new iPad Air and they say don't install the app that's quitting. If I listen to this ridiculous advice I won't have any apps to use anymore. No matter what I'm doing... email, watching a movie or a video, game, reading, surfing the web using Safari it quits on me. I even tried not updating my iPad Air to the latest iOs and it still crashed. This is really frustrating.

I have been having the same crashing issues like everyone else on the forums.  I called applecare they ran diagnostics etc...Went to Genius bar was told the usual restore as new and download all apps from itunes store.  Sorry this is not the way this is supposed to work.  Sounds like everyone is still having same issues after following the restoring process.  I do have a case number.  Guess I will wait for that "Update"  Hopefully soon  *****!!!!

    Really frustrated

maybe apple personnel cant tell us what they really think. maybe apple told them to just replace ipad and dont tell nothing about. who knows? maybe they are working on it but cant get a solution. Apple for sure doesnt like any negative pubblicity, so they for sure are working on it.

well, i HOPE they are working about it.

anyway, i repeat, iam very happy i solved it by installing just a normal wallpaper (not dynamic), following one of the very first posts in this forum. this saved me. since that day no more reboot and ow memory in logs. :-)

i only have some doubts about wifi connection with my netgear router modem, but iam investigating....

Had my Air wiped clean and new hard wire install of iOS7 on Saturday morning at Genius Bar. I asked if I could get a refund if it continues to crash, the answer was affirmative. Yesterday was 30 days from purchase.

On arrival home connected to my WiFi and all my photos, bookmarks loaded from iPad 3 and iPhone 4S. Proceeded to load all my Apps one by one. Was on the Air for about 12 hours with no crashes. To early to say if it's fixed but I have my fingers crossed. Will report back if I get crashes..

Update: referring to above, no crashes as of now.

Random reboots will not likely be fixed anytime soon until Apple releases updates that satibilizes the iOS 7, which would probably take a long time, maybe a few months from now.

Don't waste your time getting new iPads, doing resets, etc, because everyone's iPads are affected.

I doubt that the app crashes will ever be fixed, because that is a hardware issue of the iPad not having enough RAM. So I guess we'll have to wait for the NEXT iPad with 2GB of RAM (if that ever happens).

One has to wonder why Apple didn't bother to get iOS 7 stabilized in the months BEFORE its launch. Maybe they were busy helping get the Obamacare website ready for its launch.  Oh, wait . . .

I changed my wallpaper from Dynamic to still that someone suggested and so far no more crashes from Safari as well as the springboard. It's only been 2 days so we shall see.

How do you do this?  I'm not sure that my wallpaper is even set to "dynamic."  I currently have just a still photo set as my wallpaper.

OK, I answered my own question and found the "dynamic" wallpaper options in Settings. I was never using one of the dynamic wallpapers. I have been using still photos from my photo album.  I just switched from using my own photo to using one of the Apple still wallpapers and will see if that makes any difference. I'm not Holding my breath though.

UPDATE: Just crashed on me again with one of the Apple still pics set as wallpaper. Conclusion: the problem is not solved by avoiding dynamic wallpaper.

I have been following this thread from the beginning. All the features and functions of the Air should work as designed. We should not have to compromise and stop using Dynamic Wallpaper or any other feature because of this crash problem.

I have not had any new crashes since a clean wipe and hard wire re-install of iOS7 last Saturday. Granted it's only been 3 days and still to early so say if it's fixed on my Air. The Apple advisor said sometimes WiFi updates corrupt the software and could be a valid reason why so many problems are being reported. I suspect most if not all install updates are done wirelessly.

Can someone post links to sites that cause crashes so I can test it out on my Air?

    Try this:

    http://9to5mac.com/2013/11/08/a-week-with-the-ipad-air-in-three-words-believe-th e-hype/

But the problem is the management of the scarce RAM.

I've been experiencing crashes with different apps, the common thing is the...use of memory that soon "depletes"...

I post here a crash log from my SuperPad
