Q: Ipad air low memory crash

I came to this forum to see if other ipad air owners are experiencing same problem with low memory crashing as I do but seems like I'm one of the few people have this. So far I have 10 low memory crash reports. I also have about 30 more crash reports but it's from various apps. I got my ipad air on the launch day, second in line, here in California. Maybe I just have a defective one, I don't know. If you have same issues, please reply so I can determine if I should return it or just live with it. Closing apps every day is a hassle. I wish Apple just put in extra gig of ram. Overall, I am extremely happy with my ipad. There are so many good this things to mention about this ipad but this is wrong thread to do that.

And it's been important to find out that this issue is not an iPad Air issue, but most all iPads and some iPhones.

I think "low memory" got in because that's what the logs said.

The most important thing about this and similar threads is that we know it's a widespread issue.

Yes, a helpful post regarding crashes and how to report them.

How sad. I certainly hope these posters will be castigated.

Thank you. So far when after updating my previous iPad and iPhone only my iPad Air is affected by this constant crashing.

When I spoke to a manager of Apple in LA he showed me his logs and he said nobody reported any issues that is similar to mine. He said most of the issues are overheating and battery drain.

This is the case for me as well. I have a iPhone 4S and an iPad 3. Have no problems iOS7 on those devices. I chimed in on this thread at about page 10. Crashes only occurred almost immediately on the Air purchase on November 1. Was living with iOS7 and subsequent updates since September 18 on my older devices with no problem.

I tried not updating my iOS and just used whatever iOS I had when I bought my iPad Air. I did not use the cloud to back up my apps. I just logged in using my itunes account. Installed my apps one by one. Then I started using YouTube with no other apps running in the background... it crashed.

I believe only 1 update after the air was released. Try following the suggestions on this tread. Ask for a senior advisor to get the word out to Apple. Follow their advice. All we are doing here is speculating.

I already spoke to a Senior advisor. I even have his extension. He failed to fix my issue that's why he sent me to an Apple store he even made the appointment for me to replace my iPad Air. While I was at the store the person who's in charge of assisting the customer in installing my apps witnessed how my iPad Air crashed. He doesn't know why. He then talked to a "genius" the "genius" can't figure it out. He then talked to the manager. The manager can't figure it out. He then asked me, "what do I want to do?" All I can think of is just give another new iPad Air that you just received at the store. Maybe I'll get lucky. I left the store after staying there for less than a day. Went home did my own troubleshooting. And up to this day my iPad Air is still crashing.

Sorry to be repetitive, did the Senior Advisor and when you were at the store, did they advise you to wipe your Air clean and then hard wire re-install iOS7, then reinstall Apps one by one?

This was the advice given me and so far after 3 1/2 days, have had no crashes. Just did the crash test above on 9to5Mac.com. 3 times with no crashes.

did the Senior Advisor and when you were at the store, did they advise you to wipe your Air clean and then hard wire re-install iOS7 - YES

then reinstall Apps one by one? - YES

Crashed right in front of them. Not once, twice. Their only solution is... "Here's another brand new iPad Air it was just delivered yesterday. Oh, and here's a $15 itunes card you can use it to buy apps."

Ah, hello what's the point of buying new apps if I can't even use the apps I have now in my BRAND NEW iPad Air!

Yes, I did all that in the Apple store.  It crashes less, but still crashes!  Waste of time.  An exchange is even more silly.

I have 79 Apps installed. What worked (so far) for one, did not work for another. You could ask for a refund.

One other thought, the iPad was never meant to replace a Mac Book Pro or some such device. For heavy users, a better option, still unacceptable that the Air crashes with regularity. I informed my advisor and the store where I bought my Air that if it continues to crash, I would request a refund and wait for an upgraded model later. They had no problem with that. I still could rely on the iPad 3 which my wife uses.

My advisor gave me her contact information and asked that I report back after just 1 crash.

Asul11, obviously the manager is lying. Los Angeles, 2nd largest city in the USA, and no one has reported an iPad Air crashing...Duhhh ok...I believe you.

...oh wait...over 15,000 people viewing this thread, but...what a fluke, none of them in LA...
